Inland water transport belongs to the most sufficient modes of transport within transport of bulk, general, liquid cargoes including containers. Economic, transport and territorial aspects have to be in line so that this mode of transport could work properly. It is also necessary to have enough waterways that link the hinterland with sea ports. The Danube River that is the second longest river in Europe flows through ten European countries. In spite of its length, the volume of cargo has been lower than on the Rhine and its tributaries as the result of some aspects that have happened in the Danube countries since the1990s.
